Top 5 Alternative Experiences

Save With Shareagift Towards … An Alternative Day Out

Many weird and wonderful experiences seem to be popping up across the UK this year, last week saw the world’s first Wavegarden open in North Wales! Whether it is for a birthday, stag do or just a random day out it is time to get planning! We have picked out our top 5 alternative experiences across the UK that you and your friends must try this summer!

Tank Paintball Battles

As you can probably imagine this experience involves you riding around with 2 friends in a tank shooting paintballs at the enemy tank. You are taught how to drive the tank by looking through a periscope and how to load, aim and fire the cannon. This is a great group experience for any paintball fan or for anyone looking to let off some steam on the battlefield!

Flyboarding

This is probably the closest you will come to that hover-board that Back To The Future predicted. With flyboarding you will be strapped onto a board, which shoots jets of high-powered water from nozzles at your feet and on your arms allowing you to glide across the water or shoot upwards of ten metres.

Vampire Hunting

In a secret location in the village of Droitwich, you can become a vampire hunter for the day! You will be kitted out and trained by a group of ex-military experts who will prepare you for your vampire hunt. You will then be split into smaller groups and put through a number of different combat scenarios where you will be required to venture out into the streets for rescue and attack missions.

Zombie Blitz

If Vampires aren’t your thing then how about escaping from a hoard of flesh eating zombies? Located in Waterloo tube station this experience is set in 1940 during the time of the London Blitz. You will venture as a group through a number of tunnels and play out different scenarios with characters that you will have to judge whether they are trustworthy or not. If running from zombies, getting trapped in pitch black rooms and being scared silly is your idea of a great day out then this interactive group experience is right down your alley!

Wavegarden

This lagoon, which opened last week in North Wales, allows surfers to try surfing on a number of different waves based on their experience. The technology behind the wave machines allows for perfect waves to be created from 0.7m to 2m high. This is the perfect training ground for surfers who want to be able to learn the basics or to perfect their technique in a safe and natural environment.

Best Shared Experiences To Enjoy When You’re Young

Incredible experiences are often enhanced by whom we share them with. What’s more, taking on these adventures with friends can sometimes push us out of our comfort zones and enable us to enjoy anything from incomparable travel adventures to new hobbies that we hadn’t previously considered. Here we list some of the best shared experiences to enjoy when you are young.

Experience 1

  1. House Sharing  – Going out into the big, bad world and living independently helps young people to accrue heaps of discipline in a short space of time. Living together with similarly financially challenged friends when you are young is fun, liberating and character building. You also really get a good glimpse into your own soul and that of others when you are forced to deal with a flatmate leaving their washing in the machine over a weekend or endure an impressive pile of plates in the sink that blocks out the sun.

Experience 2

  1. Backpacking  – Backpacking and travelling when you are young on a small budget is widely advocated because it involves exploring other cultures and challenging yourself physically and mentally. But these travel experiences are best enjoyed with a friend because the support of a fellow traveller can push you to interact with the backpacking pilgrims you encounter wherever your journey takes you.
  1. Music Festivals

Experience 3

Shared music festival experiences are guaranteed to produce memories that will stay with you. But it’s not all about the music and the partying. Music festivals hark back to a simpler existence and often provide an authentic community experience. This is in stark contrast to the hustle-and-bustle of modern life and, for that reason, it’s beneficial to rekindle some of this community spirit whenever you can.

  1. Extreme Sports

Experience 4

Whether you opt for BASE jumping off Yosemite’s El Capitan or white-water rafting down the Zambezi, there is more to extreme sports than the adrenaline rush. These experiences provide a perfect antidote to our safety-conscious world and enable us to appreciate the sheer power of nature. Why should this experience be shared? Somebody has to give you a bit of a push when you get scared!

  1. Volunteering

experience 5Volunteering offers you the chance to expand your horizons while putting the skills you have gained throughout school and college to the test. In particular, volunteering abroad can offer you a monumental insight into different cultures and provide a worldly view that will stand you in good stead in the commercial field as well. Most importantly, these experiences help us to appreciate what we have and respect differences when we encounter them. But such a step into a different world can be daunting, so why not walk it together with a friend?
