These pubs will be right down your alley if you’re after something that is not going to break the bank and is a bit different than the usual German pub.

Laborbar

Located on the edge of Strachus square in central Munich, Laborbar is a science lab themed pub with the barmen dressed as scientists in lab coats and many of the drinks being served out of syringes into test tubes. Their shot menu ranges from toxic to radioactive and flammable and on Thursdays and most evenings you can get six shots for a mere 5€! They also hold a weekly beer pong competition every Thursday with first prize being €50 (or 60 shots!).

Laborbar

Fox

This bar is a favourite amongst locals and has an ‘unfinished’ theme to the place. With lightbulbs hanging out the end of tube piping and tables and chairs with sides or legs missing, on first glance it would like like the place is in the middle of a refurbishment. With a great atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks the bar is certainly worth a look if your bored of the mainstream pubs that surround it.

Niederlassung

Niederlassung (or branch) is a great hangout for those of you looking to put your feet up and relax to some indie and alternative music. The bar is an ensemble of odd and old-fashioned furniture, which makes the place look and feel like a weird apartment building that serves drinks! It’s a great place away from the crowds and loud sounds of Munich town, and after you’ve relaxed on one of the sofas it will feel like home in no time.

Niederlassung

Bar Sehnsucht

Described by many as the ‘bar for big boys’ this bar looks like a set from the TV show Sons Of Anarchy! The bar plays a selection of heavy metal music, has pictures of porn movies scattered across the walls and has bras hanging over the bar. Save With Shareagift Towards … An Alternative Day Out

Many weird and wonderful experiences seem to be popping up across the UK this year, last week saw the world’s first Wavegarden open in North Wales! Whether it is for a birthday, stag do or just a random day out it is time to get planning! We have picked out our top 5 alternative experiences across the UK that you and your friends must try this summer!

Tank Paintball Battles

As you can probably imagine this experience involves you riding around with 2 friends in a tank shooting paintballs at the enemy tank. You are taught how to drive the tank by looking through a periscope and how to load, aim and fire the cannon. This is a great group experience for any paintball fan or for anyone looking to let off some steam on the battlefield!

Flyboarding

This is probably the closest you will come to that hover-board that Back To The Future predicted. With flyboarding you will be strapped onto a board, which shoots jets of high-powered water from nozzles at your feet and on your arms allowing you to glide across the water or shoot upwards of ten metres.

Vampire Hunting

In a secret location in the village of Droitwich, you can become a vampire hunter for the day! You will be kitted out and trained by a group of ex-military experts who will prepare you for your vampire hunt. You will then be split into smaller groups and put through a number of different combat scenarios where you will be required to venture out into the streets for rescue and attack missions.

Zombie Blitz

If Vampires aren’t your thing then how about escaping from a hoard of flesh eating zombies? Located in Waterloo tube station this experience is set in 1940 during the time of the London Blitz. You will venture as a group through a number of tunnels and play out different scenarios with characters that you will have to judge whether they are trustworthy or not. If running from zombies, getting trapped in pitch black rooms and being scared silly is your idea of a great day out then this interactive group experience is right down your alley!

Wavegarden

This lagoon, which opened last week in North Wales, allows surfers to try surfing on a number of different waves based on their experience. The technology behind the wave machines allows for perfect waves to be created from 0.7m to 2m high. This is the perfect training ground for surfers who want to be able to learn the basics or to perfect their technique in a safe and natural environment.

Save With Shareagift Towards … An Office Party

It’s always the same story, a colleague’s birthday is coming up but no one wants to have to put the effort into organising a present, let alone a night out. It is time for you to step up to the plate and become the new office organiser! Too much on your plate? Or are you just trying to avoid having to hassle people to contribute to a birthday fund. Fear not! We are here for all your office party planning needs! We have put together the ultimate guide to help you pull off a great birthday for any colleague, making you look super organised and the new social butterfly of the office!

The Gift

When planning for a birthday the first thing to do is chose a gift so that you know what sort of budget you need to aim for. This alone can take a while as finding the perfect gift is not a quick job. With so many different gifting websites it’s easy to get lost in the sheer amount of birthday gifts that are out there. Two websites that are great and have a mix of fun, interesting and different gifts are notonthehighstreet.com and thegreatgiftcompany. You can find anything from a USB fridge to a personalised word search iPad cover, or even a novelty pug mask, if that’s their sort of thing. Keep an eye on our gift of the week posts for gift inspiration.

The Location

The next big decision is where to hold the night out, do you go for a quiet meal and a few glasses of wine or to a extravagant club with booming music and a huge dance floor? We always like discovering new places and a work night out can be the perfect excuse to take everyone to that new bar that you’ve wanted to visit. If you’re planning on heading to London for the night there are so many great places just waiting to be discovered. Designmynight.com is a great little website that showcases interesting and different events and venues, some of the places that caught our eye were The Candlelit Club, Little Nan’s Cocktail Den and The Fu Manchu Bar! For something a little different and chilled out head over to the board game cafe that has just opened up in London, check out our review here. If none of these take your fancy and you feel like really getting stuck check out our summer birthday parties blog for more inspiration.

To ensure that you make the most of the night out, whilst keeping in mind that you are with your work colleagues, follow these simple rules.

Do

  • Talk to everyone. A night out is a great opportunity to mingle with co-workers that you wouldn’t necessarily get to speak to on a daily basis. This will not only help you to get to know different people but will also allow you to understand what everyone does, giving you a better understanding of the company.
  • Talk to senior staff. You may not always get the opportunity at work to talk to those who are higher up the ladder than you. A night out is the perfect opportunity to introduce yourself and get yourself known within the higher ranks.
  • Be yourself. Don’t try too hard or worry too much about the evening, just enjoy yourself!

Work nights out shouldn’t be an issue, there’s always a danger that you may say or do something that could reflect your working reputation. Avoid the following to ensure you don’t ruin the evening for yourself.

Don’t

  • Drink too much. You don’t want to ruin your reputation at work by having one too many drinks and doing something stupid. Keep your cool and know when enough is enough.
  • Just talk about work. It can be easy to slip into a conversation about work seeing as it is a common subject between you and your colleagues. Try to find common interests that don’t revolve around your working day.
  • Speak to the same group of people. By sticking with the same group all evening you could be seen to be part of a group within the company. Be approachable and try to mingle as much as possible.
