Top 5 Brilliant Birthday Event Ideas!

Save With Shareagift Towards … A Brilliant Birthday

The same thing happens every year, someone’s birthday is coming up and your in charge of sorting out the event but you push it to the back of your mind and before you know it there’s only 2 days left and you end up booking a last minute meal or having a few drinks, and then heading out to the nearest bar or nightclub. Well fear not, Shareagift has your back this summer! We have come up with five summer birthday event ideas that are sure to make anyone’s celebration a day to remember!

1 – Luau Party

It’s summer, the sun is shining (hopefully) and what better way to embrace the season than throwing a Hawaiian themed luau party! With everyone dressed up in hula skirts and leis, you will be transported to a tropical island! This event gives you an excuse to make some amazing and exotic cocktails and for everybody to show off their limboing skills! Sites like eBay and partycity have some great Hawaiian decorations and party games. This is the perfect idea for any sun loving beach goer!

2 – Wine Tasting

For a more sophisticated event, wine tasting is a great idea for a birthday evening in. These evenings can be done in a variety of ways. Guests can save money together and buy a few boxes of different wines to try or everyone can bring their favourite bottle with them and introduce everyone else to it. Accompanied by a range of cheese and biscuits this event is great for those who love to spend their time relaxing and chatting with friends.

3 – Outdoor Movie Night

All you will need for this event is a white sheet and a projector and you can turn your garden into an ourtdoor movie screening. You can have movie themed snacks and drinks and have everyone vote on a film or let the birthday girl/boy showcase their favourite movie. This is a great idea for a film-loving friend and it’s a great money saving alternative to a big night out. Check out allrecipies for some great movie themed snack ideas!

4 – Museum Visit

For something a little different why not plan a birthday event around a museum trip. With science and natural history museums, galleries and gardens there is something to suit everyone’s taste. This is a great day out if the weather isn’t looking too good and can be followed by a dinner out or lunch in a chique museum café.

5 – Extreme Sports Party

For the daredevil and thrill seeking friend why not throw an extreme sports event. Take everyone kayaking, bungee jumping or motocrossing, there are plenty of sports to choose from. Shared experiences like this are very memorable and will encourage everyone to get involved and have an amazing time.

Shareagift can help you save money with friends to fund the perfect birthday event. Whether it be limboing, kayaking or cocktail making, with Shareagift you can save with others and plan for the ultimate celebration that will be remembered for years to come!

Highlights from Launch Festival 2013

Last week the Shareagift Team had the priviledge to attent Launch Festival 2013 and hear from some of the brightest minds in technology.

For those who haven’t come across it, Launch Festival is an annual event organised by Jason Calacanis that chooses a selection of the worlds most interesting startups to present to a series of judges, competing for investment and other prizes. Some of the most exciting tech startups of recent years made a name for themselves at Launch – including Airbnb, Yammer, Dropbox to name but a few.

For us it was also an opportunity to hear from some extraordinary panelists and keynotes – from pioneering entrepreneurs like David Sacks and Evan Williams, to some of the world’s top angel investors and leading VCs including True Ventures, Sequoia Capital and Google Ventures. Some of their insights were fascinating, so we wanted to pick a few of our highlights to share with you:

On startups: “Poker is like the cycle of a startup condensed into 2 minutes” – Chamath Palihapitiya ex-Facebook Director for Growth, Founder The Social+Capital Partnership

On ideas: “Startup ideas can’t just be good they have to be visionary, they have to be radical” – Tony Conrad, Founding member of True Ventures, founder of about.me and Sphere

On startup funding: “Publishers wouldn’t give u advance on yr first novel, startup funding’s the same so sit down and write the book”Naval Ravikant, Founder & CEO of AngelList

On fundraising: “Don’t worry about series A / B crunch, build a great, interesting company & they’ll always be capital available”David Cohen, Founder & CEO of TechStars

All in all it was a fantastic event – thank you Jason and all your team involved in organising it. We met some amazing people, heard inspiring discussion and caught a glimpse of those destined to be the stars of the future.
