Top 5 World’s Weirdest Hotels

Save With Shareagift Towards … A Great Getaway

We all go to hotels to relax, put our feet up and relax in a calm and inviting environment. Or so that’s what most hotels aim to do… Today we look at the top 5 weirdest hotels: Where unoffensive decor and normal services are not on their list of priorities.

1. Hotel CasAnus

Casanus_intestine

As the name would suggest, yes, this little hotel is indeed a giant replica of the digestive system

STIAN_BUM HOTEL_IMAGE007 A HOTEL shaped like a COLON is getting rave reviews from punters…who are saying it is 'spicing up their sex life'. The CasAnus Hotel in Belgium offers couples a night inside a colon for just 120 Euros - around £100 - complete with a double bed, shower and central heating. Couples are flocking to the one-room hotel on an island near Antwerp to enjoy a night inside the colon, saying it's 'amazing'. The hotel was designed by Dutch artist Joep van Lieshout and is run by owners Geert and Carla Verbeke-Lens, who say the hotel is 'extremely popular' with couples. STIAN ALEXANDER 07528 679198

Located near Antwerp, Belgium, the large colon was, originally, a contemporary art piece by Joep Van Lieshout. It was turned into a hotel when Verbeke-Lens, the current owner, discovered that the vast space inside was suitable for nightly stays by travelers. For a very ‘modest’ fee of $150, you too can stay inside the only Anus hotel in the world.

2. Henna-na Hotel

robothotel4

It may sounds like the start of every dystopian film but, in Japan, a robot hotel has recently opened its doors (automatically, of course).

Henna-na, literally meaning ‘weird’, is fully automated. Meaning you’re greeted by humanoid robots and a dinosaur that speaks English, your luggage is transported by machines and even your bed is made by a robot. There isn’t even the need for keys; every door has facial recognition technology.

Top 5 Amazing Predictions That Came True!

Across the UK today people have been looking to the skies to see what the weather is like. For today is St. Swithin’s Day and which marks an age-old prophecy that states that the weather on the 15th of July will continue for forty days. We hope that this prophecy doesn’t come true as it was pouring down with rain this morning when we were on our way into the office! With this in mind we have compiled a list of 5 prophecies and predictions which have all come to fruition in some shape or form.

1 – Nostradamus And The Great Fire

The oldest prophecy in our list is from Michel de Nostredame, better known as Nostradamus. His book , Les Propheties, was published in and people have attributed his writings to truthful predictions of major events throughout history. One of the most famous ones is his prophecy which reads ‘the blood of the just will be demanded of London, Burt by the fire in the year 66’. In 1666 the great fire of London destroyed the city burning 70,000 of the cities 80,000 inhabitants homes. Many associate this event with Nostradamus’s famous prophecy.

2 – John Watkins And Digital Photography

In 1900, an American civil engineer called John Elferth Watkins made an eerily accurate prediction about the future of photography. He stated that ‘Photographs will be telegraphed from any distance. ‘If there be a battle in China a hundred years hence, snapshots of its most striking events will be published in the newspapers an hour later, photographs will reproduce all of nature’s colours.’ When he predicted this it was taking around a week for a picture from China to make it’s way into Western papers and colour photography was still very experimental!

3 – Ward Lamon And The Assasination

According to Abraham Lincoln’s friend Ward Hill Lamon, three days before he was assassinated he had a dream predicting his own death. The dream took place in the in the Whitehouse where he heard sobbing coming from a room downstairs. When he entered the room he found a corpse surrounded by soldiers with people weeping around it. ‘Who is dead in the White House? I demanded of one of the soldiers. The President was his answer; He was killed by an assassin. Then came a loud burst of grief from the crowd, which woke me from my dream.’

4 – The Simpsons And Farmville

Bizarrely our next prediction is from the Simpsons! Over the years many ideas and themes that have been in episodes have come true years later. One of our favourite ones is the farming simulator. An episode which aired in 1998 had children of Springfield going crazy for a video game which was centred around virtual yard work. Around ten years later kids and adults alike became obsessed with similar games including Farmville and Farming Simulator!

5 – Apple and The Future

In 1987 Apple made a promotional video entitled ‘Knowledge Navigator’ which looked into the future and tried to predict some of the tech advances that would have happened. Take a look at the video which is weirdly accurate, a man is using his touchscreen flat pc (or tablet) to do some research around his afternoon lecture. Not only does the video predict the widespread use of tablets but it also demonstrates video calling and voice controlled assistants like Apple’s Siri which coincidently was released in 2011, the year the video is set!

Have you ever made any predictions that have come true? Do you have any ideas for products that you know will be essential to us in the future? Well now you don’t have to wait for someone else to make your idea a reality. Use Shareagift to help groupfund any idea or product that you want to get off the ground. Top 5 Most Dangerous Places On Earth

Save With Shareagift Towards … A Dangerous Adventure

Tomorrow marks the 75th anniversary of the San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. Considered by many to be a masterpiece of construction, although it is not the tallest, longest or widest bridge in the world it is still one of the most recognisable. The bridge is also known as suicide bridge because it is thought to be the world’s premier venue for suicide. Take a look at our pick of five of the world’s most dangerous places, which include shark infested waters, sand storms and volcanic smog.

Suicide Bridge

On average the golden gate bridge has one person jump to their death every two weeks, and more than 1,500 to date! Many more consider jumping but decide against it. According to the local police force it is rare for a week to pass without a golden gate bridge related incident. John Bateson a former crisis centre director stated ‘ There is a kind of allure to the bridge, for a brief period people receive attention in death that may have been denied in life’.

The African Lake Of Death

Lake Kivu lies on the border between the Deomocratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda. The water at the bottom of this lake is heavy with dissolved gas. The lake contains an estimated 256 cubic kilometres of carbon dioxide (CO2) and 65 cubic kilometres of methane. If released from the depths, the gasses could spread through the air and wipe out the 2 million Africans who live in the lake’s basin. Lakes in Cameroon with similar gasses have erupted in the past, one killing 37 people and the other wiping out 1700 villagers from the exposure of toxic gas.

Death By Sand

In China, the Minqin County , in northwest Gansu province, is soon to be wiped out by two merging deserts. The Tengger desert approaches from the southeast and the Badian Jaran approaches from the northwest. Trapped between the two this area is slowly being overrun by sand storms and daylong winds. The Chinese government has started relocating residents as this area will soon become a sandy wasteland open to the elements.

Volcano Central

Mount Merapi is located on the border between Central Java and Yogyakarta. Even during its calmest days smoke floats out of the volcanoes mouth, blackening the sky around it. It has erupted 60 times in the past five centuries with the most recent eruption in 2006. Around 200,000 villagers live within 4 miles of the volcano and many have been killed or severely injured by the hot gas and lava that the volcano spurts out.

Shark Infested Waters

Volusia County, located in the east central part of the U.S state of Florida has more recorded shark attacks than anywhere else on earth! One of the more popular beaches of the region, New Smyrna, fills with surfers each summer and many who hit the waves suffer from shark attacks. Luckily the majority of the shark attacks are not fatal with many just being nips and small bites.
