Crowdfunding Vs. Group-Funding

Crowdfunding Vs. Group-Funding

One of the questions that always crops up when we are talking to people about Shareagift is what is the difference between group-funding (what we do) and crowdfunding? In some ways they are quite similar and in others they are very different. In order to answer this question we need to look at the key features of both, let’s start with crowdfunding.

Crowdfunding…

..is where a number of unrelated people back or invest in a project.

..has a limited deadline, which is usually thirty days.

wall-clock.jpg

..is usually restricted to specific rules where certain campaigns are not allowed.

..cannot be used by private individuals or charities.

..usually has a rule where if the goal is not reached the raised cash is refunded.

businessman giving money

..can be difficult, as when you create a campaign you usually need to provide detailed and accurate information about what you are raising money for.

..can take a long time to set up.

Group-Funding (Social Gifting)…

..is where groups can fundraise for anything and everything.

..is specifically designed for private groups, clubs, communities, families, and charities.

film-dodgeball_a_true_underdog_story-2004-peter_lafleur-vince_vaughn-tshirts-average_joes_tshirt

..can have no deadline.

..can be made public or can be kept private as an invite only campaign.

..is ideal for group gifts, personal projects, community projects, emergency funds, medical treatments and charitable causes.

communities

..can be used to raise funds for any type of campaign but is not suited for financing products or start-ups.

..is quick and easy to set up, customise and activate.

Incredible Facts About Teachers

It is getting to that time of year when you wave goodbye to your teacher and it suddenly dawns on you just how much they have had an influence on your life over the past year or so. Students a plenty have been flooding to Shareagift over the past few weeks to create gift pages for their favourite teachers, encouraging fellow students and even faculty members to come together and buy something extra special.

In honour of teachers across the world we have found 10 amazing facts about teachers that you probably didn’t know (providing your not a teacher of course!)

In the US since 1950, there has been a 96% increase in students and a 252% increase in teaching staff.

Approximately 92.4% of teachers spend their own money on their students or classrooms!

76% agree that many of the smartest people in society don’t go into teaching because being a teacher doesn’t pay enough.

In colonial times and into the early decades of the 19th century, most teachers were men. From the 1820s to 1830s, as more public schools were built and more men were siphoned off by more prestigious professions, women began to take over the schoolroom. The feminisation of teaching not only changed how society perceived women, but how women perceived themselves.

In 2008 Alia Sabur became the youngest college professor at just 19 years old!

This year marked the 102nd birthday of Agnes Zhelesnik, who is thought to be the world’s oldest teacher!

A Polish teacher named Errol Muzawazi holds the Guinness world record for the longest lecture by doing 121 hours of non-stop teaching!

Finally did you know that teachers make 14% less than people in other professions that require similar levels of education? Come together this year with fellow students, faculty members or parents and show your teacher just how much they mean to you.

Coping When Co-worker’s Leave The Company

“We all take different paths in life, but no matter where we go, we take a little of each other everywhere.” ― Tim McGraw

Why Does Leaving A Company Cause Panic?

When a co-worker leaves the company it can be a disruptive, upsetting and stressful time for their fellow colleagues. Employees can often take someone leaving the company to heart, especially if they work closely with them or they are in charge of them.

As a company you need to remind your employees that their job isn’t right for everyone, and people can often change career path, move away or move on to a more senior role somewhere else.

Many employees can often get angry or annoyed at one of their co-workers leaving as they may feel like they are being left behind or they may be concerned with the gap in the workforce that their colleague is leaving. In many instances it can be difficult to fill a position, especially if the role requires a lot of training and employees may be concerned that they will have to pick up the extra workload.

Supporting Colleagues Who Are Moving On

If they are leaving for a better position the company should feel proud that they have provided them with the relevant skills and experience for them to have secured themselves a more senior role somewhere else.

Rather than getting annoyed or concerned about a colleague leaving, companies need to support them by providing them with a positive experience from the minute they decide to leave until their last day.

By providing them with a positive experience it will leave them with fond memories of the company and this may result in them recommending it to friends or their new colleagues as a great place to work. It can even result in the employee returning in the future.
