Top 5 Incredibly Random Pubs That You Must Try This Summer In Munich!

Save With Shareagift Towards … A Trip To Munich

If you’re headed to Munich this summer and are looking for something other than Oktoberfest, or if you are headed to Oktoberfest are looking to take a couple of days out to explore the city, don’t just head into the nearest place you find, look around and do a bit of exploring! These pubs will be right down your alley if you’re after something that is not going to break the bank and is a bit different than the usual German pub.

Drugstore

This quirky bar/café/restaurant sports wooden furniture, marvel tables, red leather coaches and hanging chandeliers. Surrounded by mainstream bars this place sticks out like a sore thumb and is well worth is visit if you’re looking for something out of the ordinary. Inside the bar you will also find a newsstand with comics, papers and all sorts of different reading material and there is also a theatre, which put on evening and weekend shows including cabaret, acoustic sessions and DJ sets.

Drugstore

Laborbar

Located on the edge of Strachus square in central Munich, Laborbar is a science lab themed pub with the barmen dressed as scientists in lab coats and many of the drinks being served out of syringes into test tubes. Their shot menu ranges from toxic to radioactive and flammable and on Thursdays and most evenings you can get six shots for a mere 5€! They also hold a weekly beer pong competition every Thursday with first prize being €50 (or 60 shots!).

Laborbar

Fox

This bar is a favourite amongst locals and has an ‘unfinished’ theme to the place. With lightbulbs hanging out the end of tube piping and tables and chairs with sides or legs missing, on first glance it would like like the place is in the middle of a refurbishment. With a great atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks the bar is certainly worth a look if your bored of the mainstream pubs that surround it.

Fox

Niederlassung

Niederlassung (or branch) is a great hangout for those of you looking to put your feet up and relax to some indie and alternative music. The bar is an ensemble of odd and old-fashioned furniture, which makes the place look and feel like a weird apartment building that serves drinks! It’s a great place away from the crowds and loud sounds of Munich town, and after you’ve relaxed on one of the sofas it will feel like home in no time.

Niederlassung

Bar Sehnsucht

Described by many as the ‘bar for big boys’ this bar looks like a set from the TV show Sons Of Anarchy! The bar plays a selection of heavy metal music, has pictures of porn movies scattered across the walls and has bras hanging over the bar. With a selection of different beers, ales and ‘manly’ shots on offer, this is a go to place for bikers and rock n roll fans alike.

Top 5 Alternative Experiences

Save With Shareagift Towards … An Alternative Day Out

Many weird and wonderful experiences seem to be popping up across the UK this year, last week saw the world’s first Wavegarden open in North Wales! Whether it is for a birthday, stag do or just a random day out it is time to get planning! We have picked out our top 5 alternative experiences across the UK that you and your friends must try this summer!

Tank Paintball Battles

As you can probably imagine this experience involves you riding around with 2 friends in a tank shooting paintballs at the enemy tank. You are taught how to drive the tank by looking through a periscope and how to load, aim and fire the cannon. This is a great group experience for any paintball fan or for anyone looking to let off some steam on the battlefield!

Flyboarding

This is probably the closest you will come to that hover-board that Back To The Future predicted. With flyboarding you will be strapped onto a board, which shoots jets of high-powered water from nozzles at your feet and on your arms allowing you to glide across the water or shoot upwards of ten metres.

Vampire Hunting

In a secret location in the village of Droitwich, you can become a vampire hunter for the day! You will be kitted out and trained by a group of ex-military experts who will prepare you for your vampire hunt. You will then be split into smaller groups and put through a number of different combat scenarios where you will be required to venture out into the streets for rescue and attack missions.

Zombie Blitz

If Vampires aren’t your thing then how about escaping from a hoard of flesh eating zombies? Located in Waterloo tube station this experience is set in 1940 during the time of the London Blitz. You will venture as a group through a number of tunnels and play out different scenarios with characters that you will have to judge whether they are trustworthy or not. If running from zombies, getting trapped in pitch black rooms and being scared silly is your idea of a great day out then this interactive group experience is right down your alley!

Wavegarden

This lagoon, which opened last week in North Wales, allows surfers to try surfing on a number of different waves based on their experience. The technology behind the wave machines allows for perfect waves to be created from 0.7m to 2m high. This is the perfect training ground for surfers who want to be able to learn the basics or to perfect their technique in a safe and natural environment.

Top 5 Unbelievable Pop-Ups In London

Save With Shareagift Towards … A Great Day Out In London

The competitions between new and up-and-coming businesses is now greater than ever. To differentiate themselves and find the market share that they need, companies need to think of innovative ways to appeal to the public. And pop-ups are just the way to do so. We look at 5 of the most out-there ideas

The Curious Canine Kitchen

dogfood-copy

Whilst most dogs still chomp on their terribly uncool Pedigree tin-canned crap, the cool dogs in town are at the Curious Canine Kitchen feasting on Seaweed, Kale and Reishi mushroom cream.

Dog

It may be debatable how much your lovely canine friend (or any human, even) actually enjoys this ‘superfood menu’ due to their reduced number of taste buds – but don’t let the ‘reasonable’ price tag put you off: £20 for three courses of paw-licking-goodness!

fewd

You’re probably thinking; where do I go for this once in a lifetime experience? Well, save your moustache wax for another occasion; they’ve been and gone! However, you can still donate to their great cause Amazon CARES

Pestaurant

Pestaurant-2

The well-known (to a small niche) pest control company, Rentokil, are more used to poisoning and disposing of masses of tiny critters than frying them up for mass consumption…

mealworm

But with the impending doom of the slow unraveling of the Earth as we know it; maybe we should give the gnarly little insects a try? And you can do! For tasty salt ‘n’ vinegar crickets and Mexican spiced mealworms, just head on to one of their pop-ups happening (bit far out) in Surrey and Edinburgh. It’s free too. You’ve got nothing to lose, apart from maybe your appetite…

Death Row Dinner

death_row_dinners__3040135b

Ever fancy experiencing your last meal on Earth? Well you can with this death row themed pop-up! The menu consists of dishes made up of past last requests and a cheery mugshot of inmate in question.

ower-645x430

This pop-up concept was launched just last year with images of deceased inmates with menus around their necks. If this sounds horrific to you, you’re not alone! It cause absolute uproar on Twitter; with responses branding the idea ‘sick’, ‘twisted’ and ‘disgusting’.

ianzi hotel

The organizers issued apologies and Death Row Dinner was no more.

Cuddle Cafe

download (1)

Imagine a world where money isn’t the only currency, where you can pay for things with love and kindness. Well imagine no more! McVitie’s have launched a cafe where you pay for warm beverages and snacks by a quick cuddle. The cafe, designed by Dr Stuart Farrimond, is meant to encourage oxytocin – the ‘love hormone’, which kills stress levels and makes us feel more relaxed.

mcvities-cuddle-cafe-702x336

Unfortunately, the pop-up only opened for two days in February, so you’ll have to quench your thirst for a quick cuddle elsewhere.

London In The Sky

Alize Cornet, Xperia Hot Shot tennis player, swaps tips with Darius Knight, top British table tennis player, at Sony Ericsson's Tennis in the Sky on a specially constructed court suspended at 150ft over the Thames at Jubilee Gardens Waterloo London today while Pat Cash umpires.

A well-established business, Events In The Sky, have popped up all over the world. With events in Berlin to Paris to London, hanging a large dinner table over the city is their specialty. They have renowned and up and coming chefs cooking for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the sky.

If you’re not terrified at the concept of being dangled by a crane whilst eating your dinner – then they’re open to bookings throughout the month!

Top 5 World’s Weirdest Hotels

Save With Shareagift Towards … A Great Getaway

We all go to hotels to relax, put our feet up and relax in a calm and inviting environment. Or so that’s what most hotels aim to do… Today we look at the top 5 weirdest hotels: Where unoffensive decor and normal services are not on their list of priorities.

1. Hotel CasAnus

Casanus_intestine

As the name would suggest, yes, this little hotel is indeed a giant replica of the digestive system

STIAN_BUM HOTEL_IMAGE007 A HOTEL shaped like a COLON is getting rave reviews from punters…who are saying it is 'spicing up their sex life'. The CasAnus Hotel in Belgium offers couples a night inside a colon for just 120 Euros - around £100 - complete with a double bed, shower and central heating. Couples are flocking to the one-room hotel on an island near Antwerp to enjoy a night inside the colon, saying it's 'amazing'. The hotel was designed by Dutch artist Joep van Lieshout and is run by owners Geert and Carla Verbeke-Lens, who say the hotel is 'extremely popular' with couples. STIAN ALEXANDER 07528 679198

Located near Antwerp, Belgium, the large colon was, originally, a contemporary art piece by Joep Van Lieshout. It was turned into a hotel when Verbeke-Lens, the current owner, discovered that the vast space inside was suitable for nightly stays by travelers. For a very ‘modest’ fee of $150, you too can stay inside the only Anus hotel in the world.

2. Henna-na Hotel

robothotel4

It may sounds like the start of every dystopian film but, in Japan, a robot hotel has recently opened its doors (automatically, of course).

Henna-na, literally meaning ‘weird’, is fully automated. Meaning you’re greeted by humanoid robots and a dinosaur that speaks English, your luggage is transported by machines and even your bed is made by a robot. There isn’t even the need for keys; every door has facial recognition technology.

Creepy or amazing? You decide.

3. Propeller Island City Lodge

The name doesn’t give much away but this quirky little hotel in Berlin offers the unique experience of staying in different ‘concepts’.

For example, you can choose to spend the night in an ‘upside down room’, where all the furniture is glued to the ceiling and everything is topsy turvy.

Finally, if you’ve ever wondered what it felt like to be dead – book a night in the Coffin Room… The design of the room is meant to recreate the feeling of resting in peace…

4. The Godiva Chocolate Suite

ODD CHOCOLATE ROOM

If you have a ‘suite’ tooth, you’ll love this Valentine’s Day promotion at The Bryant Park Hotel, Manhattan. Every year, the hotel teams up with chocolatiers and artists to create a room made entirely of chocolate. Every wall is lined with chocolate and you can even see (and eat) a reproduction of Gustav Klimt’s “The Kiss”. Romantic! With a slight Hansel and Gretel vibe…

Top 5 Mad Modes Of Shared Transport

‘I love to travel, but hate to arrive.’ – Albert Einstein

Thousands of commuters across London will be preparing to leave work early tonight as a 24-hour tube strike hits the capital. With many workers taking leave or working from home tomorrow, it just goes to show how much we have now come to rely on public transport. With people relying so heavily on trains to get around we thought it was time to mix it up and have compiled a list of our top 5 alternative shared modes of transport that you and your colleagues could use to get to work!

5 – HumanCar

This vehicle seats four passengers and is powered by each passenger pushing and pulling on the different handles to generate speed. Although it may not look much the Humancar can reach up to 60 mph going downhill! However, you may notice that there is no steering and to turn the passengers must simply lean left or right. Although it is not the safest mode of transport it’s free to run and it will give you a work out as well as a means to get from A to B!

FM-4 Human Car

4 – Beer Bike / Pedal Pub

This is a shared bike that can sit up to 18 passengers and is pedal powered. A bar sits in the middle of the bike and over 30 litres of beer is provided. These bikes are situated in numerous cities across the world and are great fun for someone’s birthday or stag do. It could also be a great way to get to work, provided you can still stand when you arrive!

Amstel Lights Dutch Takeover of New York City

3 – Couch Bike

If the beer bike seems a bit too much effort then why not go for a more relaxing way to travel. As you may have guessed this mode of transport is simply a pedal powered sofa on wheels. A great alternative to those uncomfortable bike seats, the bike is the perfect combination of lazy and productive. You could even cycle this straight up to your desk and work from it without ever having to get up.

2 – Toboggan Sled

To avoid time walking down hills or steep inclines the toboggan sled is a great way to both save time and have fun! There is a sled ride in the city of Funchal, Madeira where two men dressed all in white take passengers up and down a long hill. This ride is loved by tourists and is used by locals as a quick way to get around. Perhaps it’s time to start installing stops around the capital as an alternative to the tube and Boris bikes!

1 – Tandem Bicycle

The oldest shared mode of transport in our list, the tandem bicycle dates back to the 1890’s and is essentially a bicycle designed to be ridden by more than one person. They avoid the problem of keeping pace or catching up with one another if you are out as a group and if you fancy a rest you can lazily ease up on the pedalling and let the others carry you. A great way for you and all your colleagues to get to work together ensuring that no one is ever left behind.

If you are fed up with the more mundane modes of transport then why not use Shareagift to save with friends or colleagues towards new and alternative modes of transport.
