This quirky bar/café/restaurant sports wooden furniture, marvel tables, red leather coaches and hanging chandeliers. Surrounded by mainstream bars this place sticks out like a sore thumb and is well worth is visit if you’re looking for something out of the ordinary. Inside the bar you will also find a newsstand with comics, papers and all sorts of different reading material and there is also a theatre, which put on evening and weekend shows including cabaret, acoustic sessions and DJ sets.

Laborbar

Located on the edge of Strachus square in central Munich, Laborbar is a science lab themed pub with the barmen dressed as scientists in lab coats and many of the drinks being served out of syringes into test tubes. Their shot menu ranges from toxic to radioactive and flammable and on Thursdays and most evenings you can get six shots for a mere 5€! They also hold a weekly beer pong competition every Thursday with first prize being €50 (or 60 shots!).

Fox

This bar is a favourite amongst locals and has an ‘unfinished’ theme to the place. With lightbulbs hanging out the end of tube piping and tables and chairs with sides or legs missing, on first glance it would like like the place is in the middle of a refurbishment. With a great atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks the bar is certainly worth a look if your bored of the mainstream pubs that surround it.

Niederlassung

Niederlassung (or branch) is a great hangout for those of you looking to put your feet up and relax to some indie and alternative music. The bar is an ensemble of odd and old-fashioned furniture, which makes the place look and feel like a weird apartment building that serves drinks! It’s a great place away from the crowds and loud sounds of Munich town, and after you’ve relaxed on one of the sofas it will feel like home in no time.

Bar Sehnsucht

Described by many as the ‘bar for big boys’ this bar looks like a set from the TV show Sons Of Anarchy! The bar plays a selection of heavy metal music, has pictures of porn movies scattered across the walls and has bras hanging over the bar. With a selection of different beers, ales and ‘manly’ shots on offer, this is a go to place for bikers and rock n roll fans alike.
